AURA NOIR’S 2008 OPUS OF SAVAGE BLACKENED THRASH. PRESENTED ON MID-PRICE CD INCLUDING RARE BONUS TRACKS.
Norway's Aura Noir was formed in 1993 by Aggressor (Ved Buens Ende, ex-Dødheimsgard, as well as Ulver and Satyricon in their formative years) & Apollyon (Coffin Storm, ex-Dødheimsgard, ex-Immortal). In pursuit of a more thrash-based form of black metal than what was coming out at the time - particularly in their homeland - bands such as Slayer, Sodom & Kreator were cited as inspirations along with purveyors of the scene such as Venom, for a dirtier, stripped down, violent black/thrash metal sound. The core trio was completed by Blasphemer, formerly of fellow Norwegian legends Mayhem, as well as being current mainman in his recently established band, Ruïm.
The band’s first official release was the 'Dreams Like Deserts' EP on Hot Records, and from there-on Aura Noir became a truly cult act, releasing a string of albums among ongoing live performances over the subsequent decades.
Following Aura Noir’s revered 2004 album ‘The Merciless’ (the debut release on Tyrant Syndicate, Darkthrone's Peaceville imprint at the time), ‘Hades Rise’ was recorded primarily as a duo, and pushed the bar ever further for savage dirty riffing, embracing the spirit of the old masters to serve up a new platter of iconic hyperspeed thrashing madness.
Self-produced in Apollyon's cellar studio, the album contains guest appearances from Danny Coralles (Autopsy), and Blasphemer supplies additional guitar solos on this release. ‘Hades Rise’ was mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano at Orgone Studios.
This CD edition of ‘Hades Rise’ is presented with updated audio remaster, coming on jewel case format with eight page booklet, and contains four bonus tracks, including a cover of 'Cut-Throat', originally by metal legends Bulldozer, an alternative version of ‘Sulphur Void’ featuring Danny Coralles as a guest, plus 2 rare demo tracks of the title song and ‘Pestilent Streams’, recorded in 2004.
